- Vendors and Artists are, at heart, merchants.
And not in a bad way. Realize that many of them are subsisting either wholly or supplementally on the sales and new customers they meet at these conventions. YOU are the lifeblood that puts the food on their table.
I am IN NO WAY advocating that you attempt to take advantage of your position in these interactions, but I am instead trying to get you to realize that if you see something that you enjoy (artwork, books, wares) you should consider more heavily than you do in investing in that item.
You will be helping artists achieve their dream of creating art for a living, or validating a decision that this corporate suit made to give up that life and open a comic clothing line, or even helping the father who wants to spend time showing his son the geek world that he lives in by having a comic inspired store.
